Zell has a century old tradition of hospitality. In 1482 an envoy traveling from Italy to Salzburg recommended a good inn in Zell! Zell is also home to the oldest private brewery and in May it hosts Austria's oldest festival, the Gauder Fest taking place in the first week in May.

Zellberg has a population of 700 and comprises an area of 12 km². The municipality is subdivided into the districts of Zellbergeben and Zellberg. Popular outings are the Josef-chapel, the Herz-Jesu-chapel and the Talbach Falls.
